Requirements for Upgrading
USSF Referee 1 (Class 7)
Experience:
You must be at least 17 years of age; have been a Referee 2 (Class 8) for at least a year; and have been a center Referee in 75 games and an Assistant Referee in 25 games in USSF affiliated or college varsity games.
Assessment:
You must complete a satisfactory assessment on an Under 19 or higher level game. To schedule an assessment contact an area assessor or the DC Metro-VA State Referee Program.
Training:
Attend one of the new 8 hour classes for upgrade to USSF Class 7.
Senior Recertification Clinic:
Attend one of the Senior Recertification Clinics after completeing all of the prerequisites with the exception of the Upgrade 7 Clinic. This may be taken within 30 days of the Senior Recertification Clinic. Pass the Entry Level Test with a minimun grade of 85% and pass the physical fitness test as part of the Senior Recertification Clinic.
Search the State Referee Program class database for next scheduled clinic.
The physical fitness test requirements for senior referees to certify or recertify to the next grade are set forth by the USSF and can be found in the Referees Administrative Handbook.
