Welcome to the Official Internet Web Site of the Rappahannock Soccer Referees Association. Our goal is to provide referees with every possible opportunity for improvement and advancement by making available to them accurate, up-to-date information, regardless of their association membership or affiliation.

Your comments and suggestions are appreciated and should be directed to the Web Site Editor.

Pregame Inspections
Please be sure to CLOSELY inspect the players. If you see band-aids or tape on a player's ear lobes, that usually means there is jewelry hiding under there. These are items that could endanger either the wearer or another player and SHALL NOT be worn by any player on the field.

Special Olympics
Officials are needed for Special Olympics soccer games to be held on Sept. 20 at Chancellor High School. The format is 5-a-side. There will be 4 soccer fields with games from 10 am to 3 pm. Approximately 16 volunteers are needed. If you are interested please contact Danielle Pokusa.

VHSL Notes
See the VHSL Board for the 2008-2009 rule changes. These changes are in effect for the Fall 2008 season. THe following information remains unchanged from previous seasons.

VHSL Regular Season TIES: 2 – 5 minute overtimes played in their entirety.

If tied after the 2 OT’s, the match is a tie,

Post Season: 2 – 5 minute OT’s played in their entirety.

If tied after the 2-OT’s, teams play 2 more 5 minute OT’s but they are “Golden Goal”

If tied after the second set of OT’s then there are PK’s ( 5 per team shoot all 5)

If tied after 5 PK’s then a second round of PK’s start “sudden death”

Non-District VHSL matches do OT.

Check with Private and Christian schools regarding overtime.

Above is for Varsity Matches. NO OVERTIME FOR Middle Schools and JV games.

From Keith Armstrong, RSRA Commissioner HOT!
RSRA OFFICIALS WILL NOT ALLOW ANY MATCH FOR ANY AGE GROUP TO BE PLAYED WITHOUT PROPERLY SECURED GOALS. OFFICIALS ASSIGNED BY RSRA AFFILIATED ASSIGNORS WHO ARE FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED THIS POLICY WILL NO LONGER BE ASSIGNED MATCHES BY RSRA ASSIGNORS.
